The Jaywalking Myth

Whenever too many pedestrians are injured or killed in Toronto for the public to accept, the usual excuses come out of the bumper. "They jaywalked, they came out of nowhere, it was just an accident ..." The truth is that cars don't stop, not before hitting someone and most of the time not after. It's easier to blame the victim than to confront the daily CARnage.

the will never admit that it is the cars that are killing people and that the state of the drivers skill in operating them are pathetic, they never charge the offending drivers properly and ALWAY"S blame the peds or the bike riders.

Well... sometimes they do jaywalk. But the fact that the public always assumes it's the ped's fault is appalling. That's even worse with cyclists. They think that even cyclists who do everything right "deserve" it since cycling on the road is just inherently "dangerous".
