A resident of the area as shown by the route, I know that intersection very well. Would I have rated it as safe two weeks ago? Yes. Today, even without a bike lane in place? Yes. Would I have considered it an obvious candidate for a 'white paint' two weeks ago? No.
But no route is truly safe, neither with nor without bike lane/sharrows, unless trucks have sideguards.
