This is what I think is coolest about Ottawa biking:

Wouldn't it be nice if they closed the DVP and Gardiner to cars every summer Sunday morning here?

Nice photos. I miss Ottawa. For a little while, I used to commute over that bridge when I lived in downtown Ottawa and worked in Hull. That was my favourite commute, ever. It was only about 5km, and all of it in either a) nice downtown traffic, or b) recreational paths in Hull. The cool thing about the Hull rec paths is that they plowed them in the winter! There was a good layer of hard-packed snow, but still very easy to ride on. We had good bike parking and a shower available to us at work too. Utopia....

Ottawa is a great city for biking, I recommend you all try it! The recreational paths are cool, although they don't often go in "practical" places. The roads are generally nice though.

Cheers,
Vic

Ottawa is ok but during my tour I found it a horrible city to enter (all the roads were bi-directional single lane with gravel shoulders for winter plowing). Drivers were not friendly at all (hate to say it, but I get more respect in Toronto than Ottawa).

The Closure of the Parkway in Ottawa however is one of the nicer features. Given the amount of construction they do on the DVP, I don't think it'd be that horrible to close it from say 4am to 12 noon on Sundays. ;)
