Bicycle Boulevards - Good idea?

Interesting "feel safe" theme comes through. The two positive effects I saw: bicycle-specific information, locally higher bicycle counts.
Negative effects: cyclists went faster but didn't change their habits (just as close to parked cars, running stop signs, not looking+yielding at intersections).
I'd have to give bike blvds a B-. I did like the purple signs, especially the ones showing kids (trailers, bike seats, and alone).
Amusing sight: the duelly pickup following the bicycle.
