No helmet: Teen suffers serious head injuries
According to the Toronto Star, a 16-year-old male suffered life-threatening head injuries last night in a collision on the 401. He was a passenger in a Dodge Neon and was not wearing a helmet.
Not sure if this is supposed to be sarcasm. While I understand the point you're trying to make, I thinks its a bit distasteful and disresfectful to the teenager and his family and friends. As cyclists we should be careful not write inflamatory blog entries out of respect.
Sorry aaronm do not understand your criticism. Exactly where is it inflammatory?
It is the policy of The Star to indicate whether or not a cyclist is wearing a helmet in a collision because it fits their view of how things should be.
The operation of motor vehicles are the second leading cause of head injuries (six times greater than that of cycling).
Had the teen been wearing a helmet he would have likely suffered less severe injuries. Really have to question why his parents did not make him wear a helmet.

Aren't you supposed to wear a helmet until you're 18 in Ontario?
