To be clear, I'm only speaking as a participant on the TCC, not on behalf of them.
Does the TCC even exist anymore?
I wonder how long Toronto will be a breathable city
"breathable city"
That would be more apt, eh?
apt_get "breathable city"
pkg_delete "automobile traffic"
hmmm .. didn't work. maybe the next kernel.
Could someone please mention at the meeting, that post and ring bicycle parking is being used by motor vechicles such as motorcycles and vespas. The City allows those types of vechicles to park for free on the road. It is against the law for motor vechicles to park on the sidewalk.Post and rings were made for cyclists. Cyclists need to addresse this issue.
Sorry, but councillors Ootes and the cycling poster boy councillor DeBaermaker put a by-law through allowing motorcycles to park on the sidewalk. The by-law is in a gray area as it does not jive with the HTA.
Are you talking about a specific area that we can go photograph?
Photos of Vespas, Scooters and Motorycles parked on the sidewalk can be found on College St, between Yonge and Bay St. During office hours. They really like to park in front of the Police headquarters, in front of the Police Museum.
I have been writing Adam Vaughn to ask if it is legal for Motor Scooters to park on the sidewalk. I have let him know that everyone in my community is really upset that the sidewalk is being used as a parking lot. He told me that the City of Toronto did a survey recently and that the public does not want these vechicles on the sidewalk. So I still believe it is illegal for Scooters or Motorcyles to park on the sidewalk.
So please, cyclists and pedestrians start complaining now. I did not work hard years ago getting Post and Rings, before there was Post and Rings, so that they could be handed over to Motorcycles and Scooters. You can read on the post and rings, it says clearly LOCK BICYCLE TO POST.
I could not find the piece I wrote on it, they snuck it through so too many people would not complain. It is illegal to park a motorbike on the sidewalk under the HTA though Toronto allows it. The former should take recedence over the latter. I or Martin should get out there in the next while to photograph that section of street.
