Winter Cyclist Beaten Up for Slowing Traffic in Montreal
by John Symon (Pedalmag excerpt)
December 18, 2012 (Montreal, QC) – Florent Daudens, a Montreal resident, was cycling December 14 on Saint-Hubert Street near downtown Montreal when he was physically attacked reports Alain Gravel of Radio Canada on his blog (in French – link below). The incident occurred where the street narrowed and Daudens was forced to ride into the street, forcing motorists to slow down for perhaps 15 seconds. An agitated passenger in a car began calling insults to the cyclist along the lines of, “Hey, jerk, stop slowing down the traffic. Move aside! Streets are made for cars, not bikes, especially in winter!” read on here: http://pedalmag.com/?p=179630

John Lennon (1940 - 1980)
"I was the first to own a bicycle, then Liela and lastly, John. We did a lot of cycling, mainly in and around the Woolton and Allerton area. We would cycle to the Abbey Cinema and the Gaumont and up
as far as Speke Airport. But we were never allowed to venture on our bikes into Liverpool city proper."
"We loved our cycles."
Quote by Stan Parks,
Elder cousin of John Lennon.

Not feeling the bike love at all here. But hey would you expect? Complete streets, lower speed limits, legal protection for cyclists, etc,...?? Sadly, many more ghost bike will be needed before cycling is as safe as possible in Ontario. Meanwhile, we will install one for Tom Samson tonite.

Nov. 15 | by AVS on Twitter:
"Biking on Jarvis today where no bike lane exists and was honked at only to hear yell.
'Get on Sherbourne!'
Why does this happen?!?"
