I live by the accident scene of Mr Van Tol. I was woken out of bed by the sound of sirens. I was saddened firstly because the last time I looked out the window at an accident my husband had been impacted by 2 cars in the same intersection. However, that is another story.
I continued to look out my window as I called my husband. I watched him for many hours as he laid on the road covered by an orange sheet. I felt so sad for him as he was all alone.
I spent most of my day thinking of him as I looked out my window. I kept thinking that someone should be with him. I stood outside for awhile but realized that there was nothing I could do out there.
I watched each day to see if anyone came to the scene. I believe I saw one of your people come out to the scene the day after.
I was so happy to wake up not to the sound of sirens but to the sound of my husband telling me of the memorial. I am so glad for what you did for him.
Our city can be so cold and heartless. I am glad to see that some people continue to have compassion for others. This road is driven much to fast, with little regard for the people who have homes along it. This is a community and people need to respect that. Until people start looking after each other and showing respect to others these unfortunate accidents will continue to happen.
