Taking a stand on being an anti-bike Mayor
The Star ran a 'Where the candidates stand' segment in their GTA section today.

I particulary like Pantalone's 'give and take' approach as far as bike and cars are concerned.
Seems to me cyclists in town have been doing a lot of 'taking' as in doors, sideswipes and hits from behind. As for the others, Smitherman won't even comment and Sarah Thompson's staff is looking into it'. Sad, none of them even get it.

A Different Path, feature film starring Michael Louis Johnson at SXSW
Trailer:
http://my.sxsw.com/events/event/5117
A Different Path follows sidewalk activist Senior, a Critical Mass trumpeter, city Kayaker, and others, as they struggle to make their way through the modern automobile-centric urban environment. Each character uses ingenuity and humor to try and solve their modern mobility dilemma. The film is an artistic and poetic treatment of personal struggle and environmental concern over livable cities.

The Driver is always at fault
In the Netherlands, the driver is pretty much considered always at fault in bike - car collision.
Here is why. In Toronto, it's so much easier just to blame the victim.

Bicycle Tour Puzzle improved.
Staff at the BLD had a little laugh at Tino's expense today. Tino posted an antique bicycle map
that encouraged cyclists to visit each town on the map as they rode. It seems that Tino missed the modern version of the puzzle that sends cyclists all over the place just to get from point A to point B. The map is readily available in most bike shops across Toronto. As I write this I can even spy one on Tino's desk right next to his 'Das Birkenstock' fanzine.
Did you know to get from Woodbine Station to Main Station via a bikeway you need to use bikeways 16 to 57 to 18 to 59. By car the distance between the two is 0.9kms and if you follow the bikeways it is 3.5kms.
See how things have improved over the last 100 years.

Shredding Bike Lanes & More
This company (pictured during rush hour on Bay Street recently) likely holds the record for longest time in a bike lane, I think. Last year during bike week they clocked in at over 90 minutes during rush on College just west of University doing some shredding for the University of Toronto while parked in the bike lane.
Bike Lanes?
Just shred 'em.
