Mini Contra-Flow Bike Lane On Maitland
Cyclometer (Oct. 2012): "Maitland Place Contra-Flow Bicycle Lane to be Installed. Transportation Services is installing a contra-flow bicycle lane on Maitland Place, from Jarvis Street to west of Homewood Avenue. Cyclists may use this contra-flow bicycle lane to travel in the opposite direction to motorized traffic between Jarvis Street and Homewood. Cyclists riding in the same direction as motorized traffic should use the shared traffic lane and should not ride in the contra-flow bicycle lane. Using the contra-flow lane will allow for lawful cycling from near Church St. along Maitland Place to Homewood. Maitland Place will remain a one-way westbound street for motor vehicles between 100 m west of Homewood Avenue and Jarvis Street. The contra-flow bicycle lane was approved by Toronto City Council at its meeting of August 5 and 6, 2009. The installation of the bicycle lane was deferred until it could be coordinated with the resurfacing of the street."
This 75m bike lane is the only new on-street infrastructure to be added this year.
The mini bike lane was first listed in the 2009 project list https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.toronto.ca%2Fcycling%2Fnetwork%2Fpdf%2Fnetworking_tracking.pdf
